Went to a Las Vegas Wedding Where a Buddhist Priest Presided |

A few years ago I went to an unusual Las Vegas wedding. It was between two people who were both Buddhists, and the wedding was held in a beautiful backyard of good friends of mine. They say anything goes in Las Vegas, and this wedding was no exception. It was quite an experience. They had a Buddhist priest conduct the Las Vegas wedding, and the ceremony bore absolutely no resemblance to any other Las Vegas wedding that we hear about. They used all sorts of incense and different types of music, along with beautifully strewn rose petals. Both the bride and groom wore white robes, and it was really something to watch. Their vows were really simple, and the ceremony did not last all that long. Another Las Vegas wedding I went to was between two non-Christians, but they ended up using a Methodist minister because the family of the bride was pretty religious, and the couple did not want to offend anyone. They also wrote their own vows, and while not being overlayed with religious thought, they were thoughtful and respectful. |
