Flamigo Las Vegas

It's long gone, but the Flamingo Las Vegas is the Las Vegas Casino that started it all. The Flamingo had a storied history, from its original conception by gangster Ben "Bugsy" Siegel, who had a vision of a fabulous adult playground in the Nevada desert. Flamingo Las Vegas was the Big Enchilada, the first of the big, fancy casinos featuring top-name entertainers that was designed to draw people from the West Coast and the rest of the US to gamble, drink, party, eat hearty and enjoy the high life, while maybe squeezing in a Las Vegas wedding. Siegel's dream Las Vegas casino lasted longer than he did. Shortly after the Flamingo Las Vegas opened, Siegel was gunned down by the mobsters who'd loaned him the money for his casino, and whom he swindled out of millions. Flamingo Las Vegas is gone now, but it was beautiful dream while it lasted...*Sigh*
